It is with mixed emotions we are writing to inform you of our retirement from the practice of dermatology. We have so thoroughly enjoyed working with you and your families and feel honored that you have trusted us with your care. We have chosen a physician who we feel embodies the ethical standards of our practice and who has been working with us over the past 5 years on mutual patients to now take over our practice. It is with the utmost confidence we recommend you continue on as a patient to see Dr. Audrey Klenke, MD, FACS who is working alongside Shelbi Carpenter, Nurse Practitioner to continue providing your dermatological and surgical needs.
A little about this dynamic duo… Dr. Audrey Klenke specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery and completed her residency training at the University of Cincinnati before moving to Beaufort County in 2012 when she started her own practice Pinnacle Plastic Surgery in Bluffton, SC. She focuses both on the cosmetic and reconstructive sides of the specialty, which means she is not only capable of removing your skin lesion, but making it look as nice as possible. This is her passion and it’s obvious in her work. In 2018, Dr. Klenke added Shelbi Carpenter, who has a remote background in intensive care nursing and a more recent background as a dermatology provider in her home state of Arkansas. Shelbi and Dr. Klenke share mutual contacts in the world of dermatology and realized they would be the perfect pair. Shelbi loves a good rash mystery, eczema, psoriasis, toenail fungus, acne and of course, skin cancer. Shelbi’s own father is a melanoma survivor and this colors her desire to help educate patents about skin health, treatment and prevention.
Our goal is to help transition you as smoothly as possible and our caring office staff will do their very best to ensure any questions are answered. It has been our pleasure caring for you and we sincerely appreciate your loyalty and friendship over the years. We wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you out and about in our community!
Drs. Paul Brewer and Chris Chiaviello

"As a plastic surgeon concerned about your skin’s well-being, I hope all of my patients are mindful of their skin’s happiness. I encourage my patients who have concerns about changing moles or worrisome spots to undergo at least annual full-body skin checks, and sometimes more frequently depending on the situation. (Be sure that your physician takes photos of every square inch to have as reference for any changing areas.)"
"Your skin is the largest organ of your body. Let's protect it and keep it healthy!"
Shelbi joins the Pinnacle team from Arkansas, where she began her nursing career in 2007. After several years working in the ICU and Rapid Response, Shelbi made the decision to further her education and become a Nurse Practitioner. She acquired the fundamental skills as a sole practitioner at a busy dermatology practice in AR, which ignited her passion for helping those with skin cancer both in treatment and prevention.
She conducts full body skin exams, diagnoses and treats skin cancers and other skin conditions and administers cosmetic injectables such as Botox and fillers.
Shelbi has a passion for the outdoors - running, working out, fishing and camping. When she’s not in the office taking care of patients, you can find her in the community educating folks on comprehensive skin health and the prevention of skin cancer.
We'd love to hear from you!
